CLICK HERE for details on the US getting pulled into WWI
Using the link above as your guide, I am asking you to Flip the Script on the reasons why the US got pulled into the fight of WWI.
You are asked to look at the three reasons why the US got pulled into the war - an event that greatly impacted all of The Great War. Three reasons: |
YOUR TASK - Change one major detail from EACH of the three events above, then speculate how this would have changed the outcome. Please look at the example below.
Instructions:
1. Read the details of the 3 events on the link above (the three reasons why the US got pulled into WWI)
2. Decide what you are going to change about each of these 3 events. This will be the title of your altered event.
For example: “The RMS Lusitania was not carrying American Passengers”
3. Write a one-paragraph summary of how this change may have happened. (example below)
4. Write a one-paragraph summary of what you think would have happened in history if this detail had changed in history. (example below)
Please make sure you are looking at the following criteria:
a. Proper titles and headings.
b. The information in your two paragraphs with details.
c. A graphic (picture, timeline, map, etc.) that illustrates the event.
d. By the time you are finished with this page you will have 6 TOTAL PARAGRAPHS
EXAMPLE
The RMS Lusitania was not carrying American Passengers
How it happened…
The 128 American passengers that were supposed to board the Lusitania were not able to make it onto the ship by the time it left. 50 of them had a stomach bug, 4 of them got in a car accident. 73 of them couldn’t make it because they can’t remember anything without their wives telling them and their wives were asleep, and 1 had a wife who went into labor. Therefore, none of the American passengers made it, making the sinking of the Lusitania less important to American nationalists. (Thanks to Jada Edmonson)
What changed?
The Lusitania wasn’t carrying any American passengers. When the Lusitania was sunk by German Uboats for carrying contraband, there were no American passengers on board. Therefore, there was less of a reason for America to be interested in another boat that was sunk during 'that European problem.'
